Biography
Ford Motor Company (1967 – 2003) Mr. Patrick’s career with Ford Motor Company spanned 35 years including assignments in finance, product development and business and product strategy. His senior positions included the following: Associate Director of Associations Management and New Business Development for the Associations Management Office of Ford Asia Pacific. Mr. Patrick was a key member of the Asia Strategy Development Team and primary corporate relationship manager for business with Yamaha Motors. He launched the first Ford business development effort in Vietnam. He was a key member of Ford’s China Business Strategy team and lead coordination manager with the Kia Motors and Daewoo Motors due diligence teams when Ford was in negotiations to purchase those companies. Vice President, Ford International Business Development Inc., in Seoul, South Korea. Mr. Patrick launched and managed the first permanent Ford Business Development office in South Korea. During his five -year residence in Seoul, he participated in the negotiations and purchase of a 10% equity stake in Kia Motors Corp. and acted as senior country representative for Ford. He negotiated reductions in South Korea’s vehicle import duties, initiated and chaired the first Automotive Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in Seoul, South Korea, and was elected to the Board of Governors of the American Chamber of Commerce in Seoul, South Korea. Product and Business Development Manager in Mexico (2 years in residence in Mexico City), Brazil; and the United States including Car Product Planning Manager for Ford Brazil (5 years in residence in Sao Paulo, Brazil). Mr. Patrick led the product team that developed to completion three major vehicle programs for Ford Brazil. UNCW (2009 – present) Mr. Patrick joined the Cameron School of Business Faculty as a temporary faculty member in 2010. He is currently teaching International Business (INB 300) and Business Essentials (BUS 206). Mr. Patrick joined the Cameron Executive Network beginning in 2009. Mr. Patrick currently serves as a Co-Director of the Cameron Executive Network Military (1965 – 1971) Mr. Patrick served in the U.S. Army as an officer from 1965 – 1971 including combat operations in Vietnam with the 5th Battalion 7th Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division – 1966-67.
