CSB Alum and UNCW Alumn
Bobby Guntoro is a former student-athlete turned transformational leader in the sport of swimming. A proud alumnus of the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW), Guntoro competed for the Seahawks before earning his bachelor’s degree from the Cameron School of Business with a concentration in accounting. He began his coaching career at North Carolina State University (NC State), where he played an integral role in developing multiple NCAA Champions, World Champions, and an Olympic Gold Medalist. His time there shaped his philosophy of high performance, accountability, and culture-driven success. In 2020, Guntoro returned to his alma mater as Head Coach of UNCW Swimming & Diving. Under his leadership, the Seahawks have captured eight CAA Conference Championship titles, highlighted by the men’s team winning five consecutive conference championships, culminating in the 2026 title. His leadership has been defined not only by competitive excellence, but by building a team-first culture centered on belief, resilience, and shared ownership. Beyond the collegiate level, Guntoro is the Founder and Managing Partner of Wilmington Swim Academy, now the largest swim lesson and competitive team program in Wilmington. Since 2021, he has grown the organization from serving approximately 100 families to over 1,200 families in 2025. Wilmington Swim Academy now employs around 60 swim instructors and coaches year-round, creating both athletic opportunity and professional pathways within the community. Guntoro’s leadership journey reflects his core belief: success is built through culture, consistency, and developing people first.
