Jared graduated from UNCW with a BA in Communication Studies in 2000. As an International Purchasing Manager in the furniture industry, he spent several years in China and Vietnam sourcing, negotiating, and procuring raw materials and finished products from various suppliers. Once contract negotiations were finalized, he managed the supply-chain logistics involved in importing these goods into the US. Being an avid scuba diver and spearfisherman, he decided to change careers and move back to Wilmington to be closer to the ocean. Here he became a managing partner in a national insurance agency. That business experienced a three year growth rate of over 3000%, which drew the interests of acquisitions from larger companies. In 2012 HomeInsurance.com was sold to a technology-based marketing company called Red Ventures, based out of south Charlotte. Operating as a manager for Red Ventures, he wore many hats ranging from recruiting and training, to sales management. After leaving Red Ventures he found his current position as the Personal Lines Director at Wells Insurance in downtown Wilmington. He believes in maintaining a healthy work/life balance, and spends much of his free time on the water and under its surface.
