Pamela “Suzy” Kearns, is currently the Chief Financial Officer for Wilmington Health, a large multi-specialty physicians group located in Wilmington, NC. A lifelong love of the ocean, drove her to attend UNCW where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting and her Masters of Science in Accounting. She obtained her CPA license and started her career in public accounting with McGladrey as an auditor. In this role, she primarily served mid-size, non-profit, healthcare and governmental clients. After three years in public accounting she transitioned to PPD where she focused on financial reporting. In this role, she prepared reports, analysis and financial statements for the Securities and Exchange Commission as well as internal executives. During her time at PPD, she compiled financial reports for the completion of several mergers and acquisitions including the movement of PPD from public company to private equity ownership. After five years, and the birth of her first son, she moved to Wilmington Health as the Director of Finance initially focusing on the physician’s compensation model and analysis. During her first year, however, she was selected, based on her auditing and healthcare background, to also serve as Chief Compliance Officer. In her compliance role, she is charged with leading all efforts aimed at ensuring the Organization remains in compliance with all state and federal laws. She designed, implemented the compliance and internal auditing programs currently in place at Wilmington Health. In February of 2022, Suzy became the Chief Financial Officer for Wilmington Health. As CFO she is responsible for the oversight of the financial and accounting functions of the organization. As a native of the Wilmington area and the daughter of two UNCW alumni, Suzy has a deep appreciation and connection to university and the city of Wilmington itself. Suzy is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants, and the Healthcare Compliance Association. She currently lives in Wilmington with her husband, two boys and two maltipoos. When not at work you can find Suzy running the Loop, at the soccer or baseball fields, surfing or playing at the beach with her boys.
