Robert Richey
Mr. Richey retired in 2005 after a 35 year career in the utility industry with emphasis on nuclear power:12 years as an independent management consultant; 11 years as an electric utility executive and 12 years as an electric utility product supply executive. During his career, he served as Vice President for Carolina Power & Light (now Duke Energy) where he managed the Harris and Brunswick nuclear power plants and assisted the nuclear industry in implementing provisions of the Energy Policy Act of 1992 as industry advisor to the U.S. Council for Energy Awareness in Washington, DC. Mr. Richey also worked for Babcock & Wilcox (B&W) as General Manager of a profit center providing repair and replacement materials for electric utility and industrial processing plants. He previously served as co-managing director of Babcock Brown Boveri Espana where he marketed utility infrastructure projects and nuclear power technology in Spain, Israel, Iran and Egypt. Prior to joining B&W, he was a US Navy officer aboard nuclear submarines out of operating bases in Spain and Scotland. From 2008 to 2015, Mr. Richey developed and implemented a nuclear technology program for Cape Fear Community College that supports GE Hitachi and Duke Energy. Currently, he is active in community and civic organizations, including Rotary International and as a volunteer tutor.
