Cameron Executive Network Mentor

Philip Sindel

Philip Sindel I have combined a background in computer science with finance and investments to build a career supporting technology and operations in the investment management industry. Working for investment divisions within Aetna Life & Casualty, MassMutual and other financial services firms both in the United States and abroad, I helped support and modernize front to back office functions such as securities trading, investment accounting, performance measurement and others necessary for an efficient operation. During my career I also had the opportunity to work for the White House as Manager of Information Systems for the Executive Office of the President, responsible for the technology that produced and analyzed the budget of the United States. When a colleague started Olmstead Associates in 1994 I joined him to help build a consulting firm supplying consulting and training services to the investment management industry. Helping with all aspects of the business that included sales, project delivery, human resources, client relationships, we were able to build the firm into a leading specialized consulting firm to the investment management industry (www.olmst.com). As part of our training business, I served as both instructor, class developer and conference speaker providing investment management education across the country. I received a BS in Computer Science from Cornell University and an MBA in Finance and Investments from the University of Hartford. While at Cornell I helped start the Cornell Concert Commission that became the single point of contact for producing concerts at the school. Currently, in addition to being a member of the Cameron Executive Network, I am active in the entrepreneurial community through participation in the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship mentor program and other activities. I am also Treasurer and Board of Director member of the Arts Council of Wilmington and New Hanover County. When not participating in these activities, you might find me on the pickleball courts, golf course, bicycling or trying out a new restaurant in the area.
