Erin Erickson

Erin Erickson As the Owner of Southern Sign Company, I lead our team to design, build, and install custom signs and graphics across the Cape Fear region. Whether we are building an entrance sign for a new community, creating eye catching marketing materials, designing vehicle graphics for a fleet of trucks, or installing storefront signage, we help customers bring their brand to life! Entrepreneurship was not my first career path, but something I entered after nearly 20 years in corporate America. I gained a lot of experience in more traditional corporate jobs that helped me prepare for life as a small business owner. Prior to owning and running Southern Sign Company, I worked at Google advising large retail customers (think Wayfair, Home Depot, Walmart) on their digital marketing strategy, specifically on how to best manage and integrate their product data so they get the best results from advertising. I also managed intern programs for undergrads and MBAs. Prior to Google I worked at an investment company called Bridgewater Associates in the client advisory division where I worked with large institutional customers (think pension funds and university endowments) to invest their funds, analyze results, and provide perspective on the economy. While it was a different industry, helping customers solve challenges and meet their goals brings me a lot of satisfaction and joy, and it is a common thread in my career decisions. Academically, I studied Economics at Hamilton College in undergrad, and I got my MBA at the University of Pennsylvania (Wharton School) where I learned the fine art of case study interviewing, relentless networking, and calculating the number of ping pong balls that fit in a 747 airplane. I continue to serve on the U Penn alumni committee. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family including my dear husband Adam, two small children, Hope (5) and Patrick (4), and two old cats, Nina (15) and Kimmy (13). We can be found at local pools, beaches, petting zoos, and playgrounds across the Wilmington area.
