Jeanette Franzel As a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), my career has been abundant with interesting and rewarding work, including many adventures and a variety of international projects. I currently serve as a Board Member and Executive Advisor for a variety of organizations. For instance, • As a member of the Ernst and Young (EY) Independent Audit Quality Committee (IAQC), I advise EY senior leadership on actions that can strengthen audit quality and the audit business. • In my role as a member of the Independent Audit Advisory Committee (IAAC) of the United Nations (U.N.), I advise the U.N. General Assembly on the scope, effectiveness, and results of the U.N.’s audit functions, and on risk management, internal control, financial reporting, and ethics issues throughout the U.N. organization. • As a Board Member for the North Carolina CPA Foundation, I oversee the Foundation’s Scholarship Program, and other efforts to support accounting students, aspiring CPAs, and early career professionals. • I recently completed a five-year engagement providing expert consulting and leading projects to build government accountability and audit capacity in the Republic of Armenia, the Dominican Republic, and The Bahamas. Previously, I served as a Board member at the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) for six years, where I provided strategic oversight for all PCAOB programs to oversee the audits of public companies and brokers and dealers that file with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Prior to being appointed to the PCAOB, I served for 23 years at the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO), ending my tenure as Managing Director. I oversaw high profile financial and performance audits of the IRS, SEC, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), U.S. Postal Service, Amtrak, Smithsonian Institution, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), among others. Early in my career, I worked at a small CPA firm, where I served clients in the not-for-profit sector. I am a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and received my Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. I am originally from southern Minnesota, where I earned my bachelor’s degree with a double major in accounting and Spanish. I have extensive international travel experience, for both work and fun. I enjoy exploring new places, hiking, kayaking, biking, taking long walks, reading, and trying new restaurants and foods.
