Don Draughon
Donald R. Draughon, Jr. (Don), 67, recently sold Pops Mart Fuels, LLC’s 53 convenience stores and wholesale fuel business. Over the past 35 years, Mr. Draughon has been involved in mergers and acquisitions across various industries as a broker and as an owner. The majority of deals were either in the convenience store or banking industry. As a broker, he has sold over 400 convenience stores and as an owner bought and sold 424 convenience stores through 5 rollup companies. In the banking industry, Mr. Draughon started his career at Wachovia Bank in the 1980s. Then he sold community banks and savings and loans . He served on the bank boards of Millennium Community Bank in Greenville, NC and River Community Bank in Martinsville, VA. In February 2007, Mr. Draughon raised $19 million to start KeySource Commercial Bank in Durham, NC and grew the bank to $200 million and profitable in two years. He merged the bank into the Bank of North Carolina in October of 2012. From 2017 through 2020 Mr. Draughon founded and lead TreyNet Realty Capital, Inc., a real estate investment trust buying triple net lease, multi-unit retail real estate. One of Mr. Draughon’s proudest accomplishment was the founding of Voyager Academy Charter School in 2007. This is a K-12 project-based learning school based in Durham, NC educating 1,400 students. He was the Chairman of the Voyager Academy Board for the first 5 years and currently serves as Chairman of Voyager Foundation. Mr. Draughon received an MBA from Wake Forest University, Babcock School of Management in 1984 and a BA from Brigham Young University in 1982.
