My career spanned 33 years in the automotive industry where I held a variety of roles in the Sales and Marketing space. I had a special emphasis throughout my career on customer retention and understanding what makes a customer loyal to a brand. I also found that I am a very process-oriented person and gained much experience in designing, implementing, and improving durable, repeatable processes including B2C and B2B marketing. I am very proud of my role in developing and running my company's early Social Media support structure. A key enabler of my success was a strong understanding of how to move an idea from concept to reality, which came through study of the project management process and becoming certified by the Project Management Institute (PMI) as a Project Management Professional (PMP). The roles I enjoyed the most were those where I led teams to deliver results. I gained much experience in selecting and developing employees and came to lead many diverse teams, and am most proud of the many relationships I developed over the years. By far the most satisfying aspect of my professional experience was the mentoring I did with employees at different stages of their careers, but especially with younger employees just beginning their journey. I look forward to continuing this in my role as a CEN mentor. I am now retired and enjoy spending time with family, traveling, building furniture, and doing volunteer work throughout the community.
