Biography
Dr. Jessica Magnus joined the faculty in 2005 and is a Professor of Management and the Chair of the Management Department. She teaches courses in the concentration of human resources and organizational behavior at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Dr. Magnus has been awarded the Chancellor’s Teaching Excellence Award as well as UNCW’s Distinguished Teaching Professorship. Her research expertise is team cognition and behavior, mindfulness, workplace humor, and work/family conflict, and her research has appeared in top journals such as the Journal of Applied Psychology, the Journal of Management, the Journal of Business Ethics, and Work and Stress. Her work has been supported by NASA, the NSF, and the Army Research Institute. She consults with companies on effective teams. Jessica was a human resource manager and consultant for a national environmental engineering consulting firm. She is certified as a Senior Human Resource Professional (SPHR) and Society for Human Re- source Management’s Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP).
